The AI helped me turn prose into parody
These past months, I have been using Chat-GPT extensively. As a dyslexic non-native English speaker, this AI tool has been a game-changer for my writing process, providing feedback to an extent that other tools, such as Grammarly, never could. Zulie Rane’s suggestion, I ask for its opinion on each article I write, including my most recent piece. The feedback on the piece was insightful, as usual, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement. Overall, the AI seemed pleased, so I only made minor adjustments, particularly with verb tenses and grammar.
“I didn’t really want to do economics. It wasn’t my dream or anything, it just kinda happened. My dad once asked me what I was doing and I said I was studying for university exams. He said I can’t stay here. I didn’t know where I was supposed to go. He wanted me to go to Oxford or Cambridge, but that wasn’t happening. We didn’t know anything about getting into those schools.
So, I ended up looking at schools in Italy. I didn’t know what to study. I thought about journalism because I did some stuff with UNICEF and the BBC in high school. It was fun. I liked uncovering the truth. My mom was scared, though. She didn’t want me to be a journalist. I also liked math and thought about architecture, but my dad didn’t think I could do anything with math. And I didn’t think I could catch up in architecture.
