Never stop learning

Never stop learning

It may have been said a million times over, but somehow it sometimes slips our mind. I would like to emphasise the importance of continuously learning and try to explain how to spot when you’re letting it slip. Because simply living your life, isn’t enough. Taking risks and putting yourself outside of your comfort zone should be a part of it. Those are the moments when you learn the most. If you’re not constantly improving, you’re just going through the motions of life and don’t allow yourself to experience the highs (and lows) of an accomplished living experience. Why should we be aiming to keep learning in the first place? Well, not only is it fun to gain more knowledge and experience, it may also have biological advantage as well. According to the NHS for example, the risk of Alzheimer’s disease can be reduced by learning foreign languages or trying new activities and hobbies.

In other words, challenging yourself and putting yourself in situations that you have never been before. This triggers your brain in other ways than going through the motions of life.Learning experiences should leave a lasting impression. That means that the experience changed you, or at the very least you found it fascinating enough to remember. So at your next birthday party you recognize that you answer the “how’s it going” question with “nothing much” one too many times, it might be a sign that your learning progress has stagnated. Not a big deal, take it as a sign and find something to challenge yourself. At the very least then you will have a story to tell at the next birthday party.
