My SEO Journey: From Beginnings to Breakthroughs
I entered the SEO world in late July and I was stepping into unfamiliar territory. Being part of an energetic start-up with a primary focus on social media marketing, I was the only web developer. The pressure was on, and the need to adapt was essential. In the beginning, I leaned heavily on Yoast SEO’s guidance. Following its recommendations, I believed we were on the right track. But when I turned to tools like SEMrush and Google Analytics for feedback by month’s end, the results didn’t quite match my optimism. The silver lining? An undeniable rise in conversions. Admittedly, the limited tech expertise of the rest of the team may have been a temporary cushion. With a significant client on the line and our company’s reputation at stake, there was no backing down. Determined, I delved deeper into SEO requirements and, started taking certifications on Udemy and learned how I can use ChatGPT to my advantage.
The advice I received was crucial to my efforts. Another key insight was the importance of preserving link stability. If a piece of content has backlinks, it’s best not to alter its URL. When updating titles, it’s crucial to maintain consistency across platforms. It’s also a good practice to update your social media audience when making significant changes. While ChatGPT was a handy source for keyword ideas, I also made it a point to cross-check them using keyword analytics tools. I found considerable utility in WordStream’s free version, which offers ten daily searches packed with insights. There are other tools that have unlimited free searches but I found this one most useful.
