Journalist Diaries ep1
Sometimes with a smile on my face, and others with the same vim I say, ‘Oh, how I love Nigeria!’ I genuinely love Journalism for a lot of reasons. I love journalism because it allows me to tell stories that matter. I love Journalism because I can meet people from all walks of life and learn about their experiences. I love Journalism because I also get to hold people accountable for their actions and shine a light on important issues. Honestly???? Journalism is a powerful tool that can be used to make a difference in the world, and I am grateful to be a part of it. I grew up watching Elizabeth Banu, Jemima Bassi, Eucheria Abu and so many other amazing Reporters. I lowkey assumed I would be a Reporter, and as I walk this path, I wonder what the future holds. I genuinely believe Journalism is noble Someone came to the Station some days back and said “Journalists are one of the best people I know. They bring us news, educate and inform us, and also go to the heights and depths of the World doing their jobs. They also go to wartorn zones to do the most for us all (at this point, I actually whispered to myself ‘CAN NEVER BE ME!!!’ because EXCUSE ME?? I watched my family live in fear for my Older cousin’s life growing up and will never do that to them). My HOD back in school always said “A good journalism knows something about everything, and everything about something.” The truth in this! Every day, I am learning, and growing, and it is amazing to witness!
