11 Habits That Changed My Life
I used to think it was total BS when people said habits change your life.It was some jumped-up self-help guru high on life who was doing too many morning affirmations and not enough reality-checking. But as happens at least 15 times a day, I was wrong. This year I’ve changed thirteen things about my life and it seems that things are going much, much better than planned. So here they are:For the last 6 months I’ve sorted of leaned into that. It’s been the first time I’ve really accepted it as being okay. That I’m on this journey and I’m never going to reach perfection so to spend as little time dwelling as possible. It’s painful sometimes to not be where you want to be, to feel like you're not going as fast as you could be or that others are passing you but there’s a sort of beauty in imperfection.
I don’t know about you but my ability to do pretty much anything dwindles significantly when there are high stakes. I sort of internally combust. That’s okay though, because most of the expectations of me are made up by, well, me.I realised a while back that if I had the power to make expectations, I had the power to break them. Recently I’ve been experimenting with expecting nothing, and it’s working a treat.I don’t think many people notice this. I certainly didn’t.Sometimes you convince yourself you’re trying but the honest truth is, you’re not. You’re half in and half out. It’s like this lukewarm type of effort that allows you to validate the thought you had all along: you’re not good enough.
